The Americas Nuclear Energy Symposium (ANES 2002)
provided a forum for a hemispheric discussion and exchange
focused on issues related to the future of nuclear energy
in the Americas. ANES 2002 built on the success of both
ANES 2000 and the ANS Meeting of the Americas in 1998.
The program delivered interactive discussions, workshops,
case studies, industry updates, and an exposition by
leaders in the nuclear industry.

On December 11 -13 of 2000, the Department of Energy's
Office of Nuclear Energy, Science and Technology and
Florida International University hosted the Americas
Nuclear Energy Symposium (ANES). The symposium provided
a forum for a hemispheric exchange of ideas on the status
and future of nuclear technology in the Americas. Elements
of this discussion included national and regional presentations
on nuclear energy opportunities, isotopes for medicine
and science, waste management, power generation, public
information, nuclear science and technology, and finance.
The symposium allowed the nuclear industry to meet with
government, industry, science, and university representatives
from the Americas and the Caribbean Nations.
